Accompanied by Christian Maes on accordion, Jérôme Thomas, eminent French juggler, summons up his memory and invites us on an improvised ballad where his juggling repertoire and stories of touring intertwine. A modern prestidigitator, he makes plastic bags, feathers, bells, gold sequins, sound and musical objects dance and float. The show (45’) will be both in French and English.
Jérôme Thomas is widely regarded as a pioneer of contemporary juggling in Europe, known for integrating elements of dance, theatre, and visual composition into his work. He has redefined the relationship between the body and object through decades of artistic research, performance, and teaching. He will be mentoring this year’s Klassi tas-Surmast workshop with Teatru Malta.
Christian Maes is an accordionist with eclectic inspirations, whose music reflects his unique journey and numerous encounters. Initially specialising in Irish music, he has expanded his repertoire to include jazz, rock and oriental music. He was one of the first to take an interest in the electrification of the diatonic accordion.
